In a deeply troubling development that has rocked the state capital, Barrister Yusuf Musa, Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, has been reportedly abducted in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

The suspected abduction was discovered around 3:05 a.m. when officers on patrol from B Division, Lafia, noticed a Peugeot pick-up van parked with all doors ajar near the victim’s residence. A subsequent investigation led officers to Musa’s home, where the gate was also found wide open—a detail that raised immediate security red flags.

A search of the premises revealed that Barr. Yusuf Musa was missing, along with his personal GMC vehicle (registration number KUJ 88 PA). The Nasarawa State Police Command has since declared the disappearance a suspected kidnapping.

In swift response, Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, activated a coordinated statewide manhunt, mobilizing all police divisions and tactical units across the state. Strategic checkpoints and surveillance operations have been launched in Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, Kadarko, and along key transit corridors suspected to be escape routes.

“We are treating this matter with the utmost urgency,” said SP Ramhan Nansel, Public Relations Officer for the Command. “The Commissioner has directed a full-scale tactical operation aimed at the safe rescue of Barr. Yusuf Musa and the arrest of the perpetrators behind this criminal act.”

The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on violent crimes, assuring the public that security agencies are fully mobilized to bring the situation under control.

The abduction has sent shockwaves throughout Nasarawa State’s civil service, with many describing Barr. Musa as a “quiet reformer” and “diligent public servant” who played a key role in reshaping the state’s public communication strategy.

The Lafia community remains tense, with residents waking up to the grim news and demanding urgent answers.

The Command has called on the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative, urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to immediately report to the nearest police station or call the following emergency lines:
📞 08036157659
📞 08037461715
📞 07032532391
“Time is critical in cases like this,” said SP Nansel. “Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be the breakthrough we need.”
