The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has commended Waldorf Knoll for its well-organized inter-house sports event, highlighting its alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for grassroots sports development.

Speaking at the event, which he also chaired, Dikko praised the school’s efforts in identifying and nurturing young sporting talents across Nigeria.

He emphasized that such initiatives provide a crucial platform for the NSC to discover and support emerging athletes.

“This inter-house sports competition aligns perfectly with our objective. I have been attending this event even before assuming office as NSC Chairman, and it is something I hold dear. My position will be used to further this cause, improve its impact, and advocate for stronger grassroots sports development in line with President Tinubu’s vision,” Dikko stated.

He further revealed that the NSC, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, has established a committee to strengthen the integration of sports into Nigeria’s academic institutions.

“We have engaged with Vice Chancellors, Directors, and Provosts to ensure greater focus on sports. The University of Jos, for instance, has stepped forward as the Center of Excellence for the North Central region, working towards the establishment of degree programs in sports studies to align with global standards,” he added.

Dikko reaffirmed the NSC’s commitment to supporting initiatives like Waldorf Knoll’s inter-house sports, ensuring that grassroots talents receive the necessary exposure and development opportunities
