NIMC Debunks PSC Access Claim, Says Commission Verification Services Fully Operational.
By Raymond Enoch
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has firmly refuted recent claims suggesting that the Police Service Commission (PSC) was denied access to its verification server, asserting that all its verification platforms remain fully operational and accessible to security agencies, including the Police Service Commission ( PSC).
In a press statement signed by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of the Corporate Communications Unit, NIMC, described the reported “inability of the PSC to access the NIMC verification server” as both misleading and inaccurate.
Setting the record straight, the Commission emphasized that it has consistently provided seamless verification access to all formations of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), including the PSC, for over five years. This access, the statement noted, is critical to the successful verification of the National Identification Number (NIN), particularly during recruitment exercises conducted by the PSC.
“There has never been any formal complaint from the NPF or PSC regarding issues with NIN verification,” the statement read. “NIMC has maintained a robust and harmonious relationship with both the Nigerian Police Force and the Police Service Commission.”
The Commission also highlighted that the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) department of the NPF currently manages the integration and verification service between NIMC and police formations nationwide — a collaboration that continues to function efficiently.
The statement further explained that while the framework guiding its services to security agencies was recently restructured for standardization and improved implementation — following consultations with the Office of the National Security Adviser — the verification systems have remained active and uninterrupted.
The Commission further suggested that any service interruption experienced by the PSC is likely due to internal technical issues and not from any denial or restriction on the part of NIMC.
Reiterating its commitment, the NIMC assured all partners, including the PSC and NPF, of its dedication to delivering top-tier verification services to support recruitment, security operations, cybercrime control, and national safety initiatives.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to support all security stakeholders. However, partners must continue to adhere to agreed terms and conditions to ensure seamless service delivery,” the statement concluded.
This clarification comes in response to circulating reports that had implied a breakdown in access between the PSC and NIMC, raising concerns over transparency and operational cooperation between key national institutions. NIMC’s swift response appears aimed at preserving public confidence and maintaining institutional integrity in Nigeria’s national identity and security framework.
