The Federal Republic of Nigeria has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the Republic of India following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad earlier today, which claimed the lives of over 290 individuals.

In an official press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by its Chief Spokesperson, Mr Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the Indian government and the bereaved families.

“This devastating incident has left the global community in mourning,” the statement read. “Nigeria stands in solidarity with India during this period of immense grief and unfortunate loss.”

Although preliminary reports suggest no Nigerian nationals were aboard the ill-fated flight, the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi remains in close communication with Indian authorities to verify this and provide any necessary consular support.

The government emphasized its unwavering support for global aviation safety and called for a full investigation into the cause of the crash. “Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to international aviation safety protocols and supports efforts aimed at preventing future tragedies of this magnitude,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry concluded its statement by extending sympathy to all those affected by the crash and reaffirmed Nigeria’s solidarity with the people of India in this time of national sorrow.
