Nigeria Condemns Israeli Strike on Iran, Urges Ceasefire and Diplomatic Action.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent preemptive strike on Iran, warning that the escalating hostilities between the two nations risk plunging the Middle East into deeper chaos with global consequences.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Nigeria expressed “grave concern” over the intensifying missile and aerial exchanges between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel. The government described the ongoing retaliation as a threat not only to regional stability but also to international peace and economic development.
“Nigeria condemns Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran that has led to an escalation of hostilities… and calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities,” the statement read. The Nigerian government further urged both parties to exercise “utmost restraint” and pursue diplomatic channels over military confrontation.
Reaffirming its longstanding commitment to peace, non-aggression, and multilateral dialogue, Nigeria called on the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to intensify efforts toward immediate de-escalation. The statement emphasized that “military action is not a substitute for negotiation”, and that sustainable peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, mutual respect, and adherence to international law.
The Ministry concluded by affirming Nigeria’s readiness to support any credible initiative aimed at restoring calm and promoting dialogue in the region.
