NAF Clinches NUJ FCT Football Cup in Nerve-Racking Penalty Shootout.

In a heart-stopping finale at the NUJ FCT Football Tournament, the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) emerges glorious, edging out the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a dramatic 8–7 penalty shootout following a 1–1 deadlock in regulation time .
Twelve formidable teams—ranging from the Army, Air Force, Customs Service, to media professionals like the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)—battled it out across the tournament’s three editions, with this latest clash embodying both fierce competition and solidarity .

While the NAF and NDLEA battled it through penalties, the Nigeria Customs Service team delivered a commanding 4–0 win over hosts NUJ to claim third place .
Dr. Christopher Otabor, Chief Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and CEO of Alliance Hospital, lauded the NUJ for sustaining the competition, noting its critical role in fostering unity, fitness, and camaraderie among security agencies and media professionals .
Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, celebrated the NAF victory and lauded all participating teams for their resilience and sportsmanship. She also extended heartfelt thanks to lead sponsor AIBEN Properties Limited, spearheaded by Chief Dr. Andy Elerewe, alongside other partners and football officials, for their unwavering support .
Expressing pride in the tournament’s spirit, Chairman. Ike remarked:
“Over the past week, we have witnessed incredible teamwork and dedication. Football has once again proven to be more than a game —it is a platform for connection, resilience, and community.”
She further commended the active involvement of NAWOJ, saying their participation was a “source of pride for women in journalism” .
