Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alerts Nigerians to Fake Recruitment Scams” By Raymond Enoch

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a public warning against fraudulent recruitment advertisements circulating online, falsely claiming to offer employment opportunities within the ministry. The ministry emphasized that these advertisements are not affiliated with any official government recruitment processes..

In a statement released on April 30, 2025, the ministry clarified that it has not published any job vacancies, either at its headquarters in Abuja or at its foreign missions. The spokesperson, Dr. Tope Elias-Fatile, stated that employment within the ministry is managed by the Federal Civil Service Commission and that any legitimate recruitment would be announced through official government channels.

The ministry urged the public to be vigilant and to disregard any unsolicited job offers or requests for payment related to employment opportunities. Individuals seeking information about legitimate vacancies are advised to consult the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or its verified social media platforms.

This warning is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat the rise of employment-related scams targeting job seekers. Similar advisories have been issued by other government agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, highlighting the importance of relying on official sources for employment information.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to ensuring transparency and integrity in its recruitment processes and urges all Nigerians to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
