I will like to be remembered for integrating Tarabans into the peace making process-CP Sokoya

The Commissioner of Police, Taraba State, CP Abimbola Sokoya says the current security situation in Taraba state is relatively peaceful compared to what is been experience in most state across the country.
CP Sokoya who stated this in an exclusive chat with Ziti News in Jalingo , however said that the command is not relenting on its effort in tackling criminality across the state, noting that the police has received tremendous support and cooperation from the Taraba State government , the traditional rulers, members of the vigilante group and other non state actors, a situation he said has contributed to making the state peaceful in recent times.
He said the police under his watch connect with the people through integration of individuals, groups in the communities especially at the grassroot into the peace and security process across the state.
“I want to be remembered personally as an officer who ran an administration that has encapsulated the citizens into what we are doing, that is making them play vital roles, telling Tarabans that they are an indispensable ligament in establishing peace in this land” he assured.
CP Sokoya said that though the state has come under security attacks lately, officer and men of the police command have been working tirelessly to repel criminal elements in the state in order to bring crime rate down to its barest minimum.
Speaking on the preparedness of the police to ensure peaceful conduct during the process of electioneering leading to the general elections in 2023, he assured that the Taraba State police command is ready to protect everyone before, during and after the elections.
He called on politicians to play politics without bitterness, given an open heart of sportsmanship, where winners and losers must learn to accept the outcome of the contest.
“We are watching closely the political happenings in Taraba State, it has been peaceful so far, and we do believe it will remain so because we have moved round the sixteen LGAs of the states, talking to the politicians to jettison anything that can cause frictions or violence, and I think they have taking the message”. He assured.
He adviced parent to ensure they keep a close watch on their children and wards during this period of electioneering to avoid them been lured into thuggary and violence in the state.

He hinted that Inspector General of Police in demonstration of his zero tolerance to corruption has appointed an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to the commands whose responsibility is to spy around all police formations in order to fish out any officer who involves in any act of corruption.
“you will agree with me that the cases of police extortion at check points and allegations of bribe collection has reduced, infact it is very rare in this command, the ACP’ job I can liken it to a yo-man’s job, Policing the police’ to checkmate any issue related to erring police officers, extortion at police checkpoints and stations, and we are going to sustain it” he promised.
Recently, as confirmed by the Taraba State police command, there has been kidnapping of seven persons and killing of 1 person in a Mosque located in a community, Baba Juli, in Bali Local Government Area, as well as kidnapping of some travelling passengers along Wukari -Jalingo express way where four passengers were rescued while two were killed.
