HON. DANLADI BAIDO TIJO SDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FOR 2023 TARABA STATE: THINGS TO FIX

By Raymond Enoch

Every generation and people deserve a Leader. In every cycle of elections in a democracy, leaders emerged in the process. Taraba State has been in a fixed since the exit of Rev Jolly T Nyame from power in 2007 and the sudden death of Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai.

I choose to describe Taraba State as been in a fixed since 2012 because many things in the governance of Taraba State has longed collapsed .For instance, peaceful atmosphere and good governance system that connects people in the metropolis and in communities has also collapsed.

The Taraba State House of Assembly which in 1999 use to have its open gallery filled -up by citizens who seat and watch legislators deliberate on issues of good governance and people’s welfare has suddenly turned into a loan and budget approving institution.

State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government where contractors and investors go canvass for work has been turned into a scare and nothingness but file carriers and not a place to seek contracts for service to the state.

It’s either there is no funds to run the offices or the offices are dilapidated and are not renovated.                             A typical                                                                                                                                                                                                           example is the Taraba State Library which was long gutted by fire and have not been rebuilt.

The Taraba State Environmental Agency (TEPA) is hidden in one of the building at the premises of Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS) Taraba State Arts Council now turned into a Ministry which only exist in the Dance Troup for the State, The Tractor Hiring Unit whose office has been balkanized either into private shops, exist with no tractor to operate .

Taraba Motel is at the verge of collapse part of which is turned into a barracks and gym or conference or wedding Centre

Peace in communities is an illusion. Some say creation of Chiefdoms and Districts are for development. Yes for development indeed. There is.no one who exist that does not want development and progress

Government should built houses, purchase administrative vehicles and infrastructures for their palaces and let them function as intended by creation not making them burdensome to communities or people.

Health System, community development, social development, Agricultural Development, Welfare (Gratuity and Pension), all are areas that have been left to rot. This must be fixed by any                                        in-coming Governor of Taraba State.

The Trade unions and labour sector of Taraba State is the worst hit. The check off dues system and welfare premium of Registered Trade Unions in Taraba State have been gradually hijacked by the State government, an infraction that has brought untold hardship to those members who hitherto saved for the rainy day.

Such that even Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) cannot pay their legitimate workers.

Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and NULGE are also not speared in this funds scavenging by the government.

Our communities and people have become more polarized and intolerable of each during this decade (2012-2022) owing to propaganda of “give me peace and I will give you Development”,

On infrastructural development, Mararaba – Pantisawa, Tsokundi, Pamanga -Daka, Mararaba- Baisa -Abong Roads are all uncompleted with only a few months to the end of this tenure. The township roads within the state headquarters have not been touched in the last decade. A look at Anguwan NTA, Saurara, Magami,  Barade , Mallam Yau ( CBN) Saminaka, Jauro Voto, Nyamusalla , Yagai area many more to mention.

USSA Local Government Area roads have been begging for attention to no avail, Yerima -Gassol Road is another horrible one .The Jalingo – Jauro Yinu – Kpantinapu road project is still under Construction, and the Five Thousand (5000) Housing Units all still not completed .What else would Hon Danladi Baido Tijo (DBT) fix other than this that are numerous yet yearn for urgent attention.

Worthy of mention is also how incorporated religious institutions have been dragged into the governance of Taraba State. Tactfully and systematically most religious centres and their leaders have been working hand in hand to turn Taraba State governance into only what God knows but sure does not add positive value to the societal development.

In the journey of the democratic elections in Taraba come 2023, the above are not only things for Hon Danladi Baido Tijo to fix but more pressing to grapple with immediately, if he must put Taraba State back on track.

Let me delve into Sports which is seen across the World as a Unifying Factor. Taraba United football team has disappeared despite the huge investments, a world class stadium a visionary leader, Rev. Jolly Nyame put in place during his administration, yet, collapse of sports facilities which the government still generates revenue from directly collected by its Board of internal revenue without putting a dine to fix it is a clear fact that, the near total collapse of the State’s assets is deliberate.

Recently, the premier university which is, Taraba State University joined its counter parts across Nigeria on a National Strike. What happened to their emoluments is a story not interesting to tell .That again is a great hurdle for Hon Danladi Baido Tijo                                                                                                    to fix once he assumes the mantle of leadership of Taraba State and if elected by the good people of the state.

Fixing the debt burden of Taraba State is one of such things that Hon Danladi Baido Tijo must consider once elected.

Many myths and hear-says around the debt burden of Taraba State is a big task before the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) Governorship Candidate to fix if elected .

It is in the light of the above and beyond mere campaign rhetoric that any responsible and patriotic citizens of Taraba State must consider voting Hon. Danladi Baido as the next governor of Taraba State come 2023 as he is the most competent Candidate among those vying for the office, as this things to fix in order to make Taraba State a better place to live again must be done immediately.

These last decade (2012-2022) in the history of Taraba State is the most -dark phase and it’s our expectations that we will never experience this style of governance again. Let our PVCs seal the deal.
