GOVERNOR KEFAS AGBU GOVERNANCE STYLE: TARABANS REACTS ON THE DIVIDEND SO FAR.

On the 29th May, 2023, a new chapter was opened in the annals of governance history of Taraba state. This new chapter is the handing and taking over of the leadership of the state by the Executive Governor, Dr Kefas Agbu who is also the 4th Executive Governor since return of democracy in 1999.
Paradigm News has monitored the views of citizens and steps taken by the Executive Governor of Taraba State Dr Kefas Agbu since assumption of office on how would they rate his administration and leadership style as compared to his immediate predecessor.
A PhD student and public policy analyst Hon Steve Innocent Solomon said that Governor Kefas Agbu emergence marks a significant transition for the state.
According to Hon Steve Innocent Solomon, ‘‘Dr Kefas Agbu’s takeover brings fresh perspectives and opportunity for new approaches to address the challenges faced by the state. I hope to see his government prioritize key areas such as infrastructure development, health care, education, Agriculture and job creation’’
Hon. Steve Innocent Solomon said that the youth involvement in Dr Agbu’s government is vital for the state progress. ‘‘ I hope to see his administration actively engage and empower young people by providing opportunities for skills development , entrepreneurship and meaningful participation in decision making process’’, he added.
The Dan Iyan Mambila and a governance expert Dr Rev. Victor Fallack described the Executive of Taraba State Dr Kefas Agbu short tenure and administration so far as a ‘‘gravitational force ’’, one which descended in the desired direction for the masses by declaring free education for both primary and secondary schools, highly subsidized university education, welfare of the aged and retired persons and business environment powered by aviation system activation.
Dr. Rev. Fallack urged the Executive Governor to maintain his focus and vision for the state and make consultations necessary at all times .
‘‘We support your vision towards a greater and better Taraba’’ he added.
In the words of Ibrahim Bambur a political strategist and activist, ‘‘ Governor Kefas Agbu started by taking right direction by streamlining and restoring the lost glory of infrastructural development of the state,’’ Ibrahim said that he is a member of the opposition party , but kept political sentiments aside to say he truth .‘‘ Governor Kefas has a good intention for the people of the state, I pray God to continue to sustain and guide him’’ he added.
It appears that there is a general consensus of opinion that the Executive Governor of Taraba State Dr. Kefas Agbu is though saddled with the failures and challenges of the previous government, is taking right steps in the desired direction in the governance of the state. There is also the general perception among the populace that the Executive Governor of Taraba state is leader willing to listen and one who is genuinely committed to keeping his campaign promises and will pursue the development of the state irrespective of party affiliation and dichotomy.
