Governor Alex Otti Celebrates Birthday at 60, FENRAD Calls for Greater Accountability and Transparency

Abia State’s Executive Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has received accolades from the Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy, and Development (FENRAD) as he celebrates his 60th birthday.
The organization praised his efforts in infrastructural development while urging his administration to deepen its commitment to accountability and transparency.
In a statement signed by FENRAD’s Executive Director, Comrade Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, the group highlighted Governor Otti’s strides in road rehabilitation, urban renewal, and other socio-economic projects aimed at improving the state’s welfare. According to FENRAD, these interventions are essential in fostering sustainable development and elevating the living standards of Abians.
However, the advocacy group emphasized that more needs to be done to ensure transparency and prudent resource management. FENRAD called on the governor to institutionalize a proactive disclosure framework that keeps citizens informed about government projects, expenditures, and decision-making processes.
“A periodic Accountability and Transparency briefing should be established to provide updates on project execution, budget implementation, and policy direction,” FENRAD stated.
The group believes such an initiative would strengthen public trust, promote civic engagement, and ensure that the administration remains accountable to the people it serves.
As Governor Otti reaches this milestone, FENRAD urged him to consolidate his achievements by reinforcing accountability mechanisms, ensuring the judicious use of public funds, and embracing open governance. They emphasized that Abia State deserves a government that upholds integrity, efficiency, and inclusivity in its decision-making.
