Germany has reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting Nigeria’s national development priorities during the Multi-Stakeholder Action Dialogue on Effective Development Cooperation held in Abuja.

The high-level dialogue, convened by the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, brought together key players in the development space under the framework of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC).
Representing Germany at the event, Deputy Ambassador Johannes Lehne delivered remarks on behalf of the Co-Chair of the Nigeria Development Partners Group (NDPG). He emphasized that Germany remains firmly committed to aligning its development support with Nigeria’s strategic goals, while also working to strengthen financial systems and promote inclusive partnerships across sectors.

The dialogue served as a platform to assess progress, share experiences, and chart a course for more coordinated, transparent, and impactful development initiatives. Stakeholders included government representatives, donor agencies, civil society, and the private sector – all united in the vision of making development cooperation more results-oriented.
Germany’s active participation in the GPEDC and NDPG highlights its leadership role in advancing sustainable development and fostering shared prosperity through global partnerships.
The embassy’s engagement in the Abuja dialogue signals continued momentum in German-Nigerian relations, especially in areas such as governance reform, climate resilience, education, and economic transformation.
