GBC, ECOWAS Strengthen Media Ties to Enhance Regional Awareness and Programs

In a significant step toward enhancing regional awareness and public engagement on ECOWAS at 50 , the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan, paid a courtesy visit to the ECOWAS Representative to Ghana, Ambassador Mohamed Lawan Gana in Accra, Ghana

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between GBC and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS in order to enhance the organization’s visibility as it marks its 50th anniversary.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting ECOWAS activities, with an emphasis on fostering regional integration, peace, and prosperity.
Professor Alhassan acknowledged past challenges that have hindered effective public information dissemination and expressed GBC’s readiness to work closely with ECOWAS in addressing them.
He highlighted the critical role of media partnerships in strengthening public engagement and fostering a shared sense of regional identity among ECOWAS member states.
“As ECOWAS celebrates its golden jubilee, we recognize the importance of strategic media collaboration in amplifying its vision of ‘ECOWAS of the People: Peace and Prosperity for All.’ GBC is committed to supporting this mission by enhancing coverage of ECOWAS activities across Ghana and beyond,” Professor Alhassan stated.
On his part , Ambassador Gana emphasized the need for robust regional and national media networks to raise awareness and sensitize citizens about ECOWAS initiatives.
He welcomed GBC’s commitment to providing enhanced media coverage and reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to working closely with the national broadcaster.
“This partnership is crucial for ensuring that ECOWAS programs and policies are effectively communicated to the people. Media plays an indispensable role in shaping public perception and driving regional cohesion,” Ambassador Gana noted.
The collaboration between GBC and ECOWAS aligns with broader efforts to reinforce regional integration through enhanced public information dissemination.
