GAMBIA HONOURS DR ERNEST AUBEE FOR EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP, GOVERNANCE AND NATIONAL QUALITY REFORMS. By Raymond Enoch
The Government of The Gambia has conferred a distinguished award on Dr Ernest Aubee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gambia Standards Bureau (GSB), in recognition of his outstanding leadership, sound corporate governance, and pivotal contributions to the advancement of the country’s national quality infrastructure.
The award presentation, which drew senior government officials, regulators, private sector leaders and development stakeholders, was made by the Honourable Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, Mr Mod Ceesay, underscoring the strategic importance the government places on standards, quality assurance and institutional credibility in national development.
The ceremony was held on Saturday, 31st January 2026, at the Bakadaji Hotel, serving as both a celebration of institutional progress and a public affirmation of reform-driven leadership at the Gambia Standards Bureau.
Presenting the award, Minister Ceesay commended Dr Aubee’s tenure as Chairman, noting that his stewardship has strengthened governance frameworks within the Bureau, enhanced stakeholder confidence, and positioned standards as a critical pillar for trade competitiveness, consumer protection and industrial growth in The Gambia.
The Minister described Dr Aubee’s leadership as “visionary, principled and impactful,” highlighting its alignment with the government’s broader economic transformation agenda.
Under Dr Aubee’s chairmanship, the Gambia Standards Bureau has witnessed renewed focus on transparency, institutional efficiency and the promotion of a robust national quality infrastructure capable of supporting regional integration, export readiness and sustainable development. His contributions have been widely credited with elevating the Bureau’s role from a regulatory body to a strategic enabler of national economic resilience.
Receiving the award, Dr Aubee expressed gratitude to the Government of The Gambia and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening standards, quality assurance and good governance as foundational tools for national progress. He dedicated the honour to the Board, management and staff of the Gambia Standards Bureau, emphasizing that institutional success is built on collective responsibility and shared vision.
