The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has extended warm congratulations to Muslims across the nation for the successful completion of the 2025 Ramadan fast, offering a message of peace and unity as the Eid el-Fitr celebrations closes

In his Sallah goodwill message, Corps Marshal Mohammed highlighted the significance of Ramadan as one of the five pillars of Islam—a time of reflection, spiritual renewal, and devotion. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit of sacrifice, love, and neighborliness that defined the holy month, urging Muslims to carry these virtues beyond the festivities for the collective good of the nation.

“Ramadan is a period of spiritual rejuvenation,” Corps Marshal Mohammed said. “It encourages us to abstain from worldly desires, nurturing a spirit of love, sacrifice, and good neighborliness, which should extend well beyond the Sallah celebrations. This spirit is essential for fostering national cohesion, peace, and harmonious coexistence amongst our diverse people.”

He further appealed to Nigerians, regardless of religious background, to continue the practices of patience and mutual respect—values that are vital to the country’s growth and prosperity.

The Corps Marshal also took the opportunity to remind motorists about the importance of road safety during the holiday season. “This period sees heightened human and vehicular movement, which increases the potential for accidents. It is crucial that all road users exhibit patience, caution, and consideration for one another. These principles must be upheld not only during Sallah but at all times,” he stressed.

Highlighting the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to ensure road safety during the celebrations, Shehu Mohammed assured the public that the Corps has deployed a significant number of officers to monitor major routes, particularly those identified as black spots. The FRSC’s objective is to guarantee a smooth and secure travel experience for all, and the Corps Marshal urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules, including avoiding overloading, speeding, and dangerous driving practices like driving on one-way roads.

“I call on all Nigerians to join the campaign for safer roads. It’s not just about this celebration, but every day. Let’s be responsible and ensure we adhere to the traffic laws for the safety of all,” he added.

In his message of gratitude, the Corps Marshal commended the unwavering commitment of FRSC personnel, whose sacrifices are integral to ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria’s road networks, despite the challenges posed by errant drivers. He assured them of the Management’s dedication to improving their welfare, through initiatives such as capacity development, improved working conditions, and regular promotions.

“We are also thankful to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the continuous logistical and moral support, which has inspired greater dedication and sacrifices from our personnel,” he remarked.

The Corps Marshal concluded his message by praying for peace, stability, and prosperity for Nigeria, urging all Nigerians to adopt the lessons of Ramadan in their everyday lives. He reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to enhancing technological innovations in traffic management, aimed at improving the nation’s roads for everyone’s benefit.

As the Eid el-Fitr celebrations come to an end, the Corps Marshal reminded the public that the FRSC is always on standby to assist in case of emergencies. Members of the public are encouraged to contact the National Emergency Line at 122 or reach out to the FRSC National Traffic Radio at 107.1FM for prompt assistance.

With the continuing efforts of the FRSC, the hope is that this Sallah season will be marked not just by festive cheer, but by an ongoing commitment to safer roads and a more united, peaceful Nigeria.
