FG Confirms Joint Security Operations With U.S. Target Terrorists in North-West Nigeria By Raymond Enoch
The Federal Government has confirmed that Nigerian security forces, in collaboration with the United States, have carried out coordinated operations targeting terrorist enclaves in Nigeria’s North-West, as part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and violent extremism.
Confirming the development via a press release issued today said the operations were executed within the framework of structured bilateral security cooperation and intelligence sharing between Nigeria and the United States.
According to the Ministry, the collaboration involves intelligence exchange, strategic coordination, and other forms of support that are consistent with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria remains actively engaged with international partners, including the United States of America, to address the persistent threat of terrorism,” Ebienfa confirmed, noting that the recent air strikes in the North-West were precision operations aimed strictly at terrorist targets.
The Ministry emphasized that Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy places the protection of civilian lives at its core, alongside the preservation of national unity and the safeguarding of the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
It further stressed that terrorist violence—whether directed at Christians, Muslims, or other communities—remains a direct affront to Nigeria’s core values and a threat to international peace and security.
The Federal Government also reiterated its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks by disrupting their financing, logistics, and cross-border movements, while simultaneously strengthening Nigeria’s domestic security institutions and intelligence capabilities.
The press release assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue engaging relevant international partners through established diplomatic and security channels and will keep Nigerians informed through official communication platforms.
The confirmation comes amid heightened security concerns in the North-West, where armed groups and terror networks have continued to pose significant threats to lives, livelihoods, and regional stability.
