In a bold expression of solidarity and compassion, the ECOWAS Resident Representative Office in Liberia marked the 50th anniversary of the regional bloc with a heartfelt donation of essential supplies to vulnerable groups across Monrovia.

Elderly citizens, at-risk youth, and a local orphanage were among the beneficiaries of the initiative, which was organized as part of ECOWAS’ golden jubilee celebrations. The donation, made during a well-attended ceremony in Monrovia, aligns with the organization’s broader social protection framework and humanitarian assistance strategy.

Speaking at the event, Her Excellency Josephine Nkrumah, Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Liberia, emphasized the people-first mandate that underpins the bloc’s activities.

> “This initiative reflects ECOWAS’ unwavering commitment to ensuring that our interventions have a real and lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most,” she said.

The donations included food items, hygiene products, and other essential materials meant to alleviate the daily struggles of Liberia’s most marginalized populations.

As ECOWAS commemorates 50 years of regional integration, peacebuilding, and development, the Monrovia outreach serves as a reminder that the organization’s legacy is deeply rooted in community engagement and humanitarian support.

Local beneficiaries and community leaders expressed deep gratitude for the assistance, calling it a timely and tangible show of regional unity.
