By Raymond Enoch
The ECOWAS Vice-President Office (OVP) has kicked off a four-day staff retreat at the scenic Zuma Rock Resort in Niger State, Nigeria, aimed at fostering strategic alignment, team-building, and enhancing operational efficiency. Staff from across various directorates and units gathered to reflect on institutional strengths and weaknesses, participate in strategic breakout sessions, and strengthen coordination.

A central focus of Day 1 was a comprehensive SWOT analysis, led by Mr. Musa Gbogboto, Director of Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (SPME), and Dr. Onyinye Nkechi from Human Capital Development (HCD). The session encouraged staff to examine the Office’s structure and its alignment with broader ECOWAS goals. The day also included presentations from Mr. Raouf Salami, Executive Assistant to the Vice-President, and Dr. Onwuka, Director of Early Warning, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, communication, and mutual trust in achieving the office’s organizational objectives.
The retreat also provided a platform to welcome new staff members who have joined since the last session, reinforcing the significance of continuity and institutional learning. The event, running from April 2 to 5, 2025, will continue with team-building activities, collaborative planning sessions, and presentations from various departments, all aimed at fostering a unified, performance-driven team prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the ECOWAS Commission.
