The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) took center stage at the African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit showcasing its flagship publications that underscore its unrelenting push for peace, democracy, and regional stability.

Held from August 25 to 27 in Abuja, the high-level summit brought together top military brass from across the continent. Amid discussions on security challenges and defense cooperation, ECOWAS mounted a compelling exhibition of strategic publications that detail its ongoing efforts in conflict prevention, arms control, gender-inclusive peacebuilding, and democratic governance.

From curbing the proliferation of small arms to championing women’s roles in peace and security, the Commission’s display offered a snapshot of its multifaceted approach to safeguarding West Africa.

The exhibition served as both a reflection of ECOWAS’ progress and a rallying point for deeper collaboration with military stakeholders across Africa. Delegates praised the Commission’s comprehensive vision and reaffirmed the importance of regional partnerships in addressing evolving security threats.

As the summit wrapped up, ECOWAS’ presence left a lasting imprint—showing that the battle for peace is not only fought on the frontlines but also through policy, advocacy, and the power of the written word.
