His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire as the country marks its Independence Anniversary today.

His Excellency, Dr. Touray acknowledged the remarkable progress and growth that Cote D’Ivoire has made since gaining independence, celebrating the nation’s achievements in socio-economic development, regional peace, and its contributions to the African continent.

“This year’s anniversary is a testament to the resilience, determination, and vision of the Ivorian people,” said Dr. Touray. “Cote D’Ivoire continues to serve as a beacon of progress in West Africa, and its role as a key player in ECOWAS and the African Union remains invaluable.”

Dr. Touray further emphasized the strong ties between the ECOWAS Commission and Cote D’Ivoire, noting the collaborative efforts between both entities in advancing peace, stability, and sustainable development within the region. Under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara, Cote D’Ivoire has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to both regional integration and continental advancement.

The ECOWAS President also expressed his gratitude for Cote D’Ivoire’s continued partnership in the Commission’s work, underscoring the importance of unity among West African nations in facing the challenges of the future.

“I extend my deepest congratulations to President Ouattara, the government, and the people of Cote D’Ivoire on this momentous occasion. May this anniversary inspire even greater achievements in the years to come as we continue to work together toward a prosperous and peaceful West Africa,” he concluded.

In celebration of the anniversary, Cote D’Ivoire is expected to hold a series of national events, bringing together leaders, citizens, and regional partners to honor the country’s rich history and the milestones it has achieved since 1960.

The Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, which gained independence from France on August 7, 1960, has since emerged as one of the economic powerhouses in the region, playing a vital role in the advancement of both regional integration and the broader African agenda.

As the celebrations unfold today, ECOWAS and its partners continue to stand with Cote D’Ivoire, supporting its development goals and commitment to peace and prosperity across the West African sub-region.
