ECOWAS Parliament Receives Interim Community Performance Report 2025.

The President of the Economic Community of West African States Dr Omar Alieu Touray has in a significant address to regional lawmakers at the Parliament’ in session in Abuja, Nigeria presented the State of the Community Interim Report at the 2025 First Ordinary of the Sixth Legislature.
The highly anticipated report highlights the strides made by ECOWAS institutions in implementing community programmes during the first half of the year—despite a backdrop of global economic uncertainty, political instability, and persistent security threats.
Dr. Touray emphasized the resilience of the West African regional bloc, stating that key projects and initiatives geared toward enhancing the welfare of citizens have remained on course. “Despite complex conditions, our commitment to regional integration and development remains strong,” he asserted.
He also stressed the critical role of member states in actualizing ECOWAS’s shared vision. “Achieving our goals depends on proactive national participation and ownership,” he said.
The session was presided over by the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Memounatou Ibrahima, and witnessed the attendance of several top officials, including ECOWAS Vice President H.E. Mrs. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja; Commissioners Abdullahi Nazifi Darma and Sediko Douka; Members of Parliament; and senior staff from both the Parliament and the Commission.
The interim report serves as both a progress check and a call to action, as ECOWAS continues to navigate a challenging regional and global landscape while keeping its focus on sustainable development, peace, and integration across West Africa.
