ECOWAS Launches Lassa Fever Summit to Curb Regional Health Threat — Registration Now Open.

By Raymond Enoch

In a major move to confront one of West Africa’s most persistent public health threats, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced the ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference, scheduled to take place from September 8 to 11, 2025.

Set to be the most comprehensive gathering on Lassa Fever to date, the conference will bring together scientists, public health officials, policy-makers, and international development partners to collaborate on cutting-edge research, prevention strategies, and cross-border disease control efforts.

Registration for the conference is now officially open. Interested participants can register via the official website: www.lfic2025.org/register.

With outbreaks of Lassa Fever continuing to affect communities across the region, the event is expected to drive forward a coordinated regional response. The conference will feature keynote addresses from leading epidemiologists and public health experts, alongside panel sessions on vaccine development, early detection systems, and community engagement.

This marks a critical moment in ECOWAS’s long-standing commitment to regional health security. Organizers say the four-day event will not only shape future responses to Lassa Fever but also strengthen frameworks for managing other endemic and emerging diseases.

As anticipation builds, stakeholders across West Africa and beyond are being urged to register early to secure participation.
