ECOWAS Launches High-Level Pre-Election Mission to Côte d’Ivoire Ahead of 2025 Polls.
By Raymond Enoch
In a decisive move to promote peace, stability, and democratic transparency ahead of Côte d’Ivoire’s upcoming elections, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will deploy a pre-election fact-finding mission to the country from 29 June to 5 July 2025.
This strategic mission aligns with Article 12 of the ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, Article 53(C) of the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework, and the directive of the Conference of Heads of State and Government mandating timely electoral assessments across member states.

Leading the mission is Professor Théodore Holo, former President of Benin’s Constitutional Court. He will be joined by a 10-member delegation, including Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah, PhD, ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, and H.E. Adjovi Yekpe, Benin’s Ambassador to ECOWAS and representative of the Committee of Permanent Representatives.
The mission will be supported by a team of regional electoral experts and a technical delegation from the ECOWAS Commission, under the leadership of H.E. Fanta Cissé, ECOWAS Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire.
The mission aims to assess the political and security environment, engage with key stakeholders, and lay the groundwork for a peaceful, credible, and inclusive electoral process in Côte d’Ivoire.
