At the ongoing Agriculture and Animal Resources Trade Fair (SARA 2025) in Abidjan, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has taken center stage to highlight its commitment to building a resilient and prosperous agricultural sector across its member states.
Running from May 23 to June 1, 2025, SARA 2025 serves as a vibrant platform where ECOWAS, through its Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF), is engaging directly with stakeholders. The focus is on showcasing the tangible results of regional programs designed to boost sustainable farming, enhance agricultural processing, and stimulate intra-regional trade.

Under the theme “Our Agriculture, Our Priority!”, ECOWAS is reinforcing the relevance of its Regional Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP) in addressing food security, economic integration, and rural development across the 15 member states.
Participants, including farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, policymakers, and development partners, are interacting with ECOWAS officials to better understand the impact of the coordinated agricultural initiatives and explore collaborative opportunities to strengthen West Africa’s food systems.
SARA 2025 not only celebrates agricultural innovation but also reinforces ECOWAS’s strategic vision for a food-secure, economically integrated region powered by its agricultural workforce.
