ECOWAS, Chambers of Commerce Strengthen Partnership to Drive West Africa’s Economic Integration By Raymond Enoch.
In a strategic bid to accelerate regional integration and unlock sustainable economic growth, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has solidified its partnership with national Chambers of Commerce and Industry across its member states.
This renewed commitment was the focal point of a two-day high-level seminar held in Lagos, Nigeria 5th to 6th May, 2025.
The forum brought together key regional stakeholders to chart a path toward a more cohesive and robust economic bloc.
Speaking during the event, ECOWAS Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Massandjé Touré-Litse, emphasized the indispensable role of the private sector in driving inclusive growth and job creation.
“Our region’s economic future depends on bold collaboration and unwavering support for entrepreneurship,” she said. “This partnership is a cornerstone for transforming lives, fostering innovation, and creating lasting opportunities across West Africa.”
The high level seminar underscored transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness as guiding principles for the new cooperation framework, designed to harness the region’s vast human and economic potential.
With this renewed partnership, ECOWAS and its member states aim to empower businesses, stimulate investment, and ultimately elevate the standard of living for millions across the subcontinent.
