Sierra Leone marked a historic milestone in its digital security landscape on January 14, 2025, with the launch of the National Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and the National Digital Forensics Lab.

Held at National Cybersecurity Coordination Center ( NC3) Freetown, the nation’s capital, the event underscored the nation’s commitment to tackling emerging cyber threats and safeguarding its digital infrastructure.

The establishment of these facilities represents years of strategic effort aimed at bolstering Sierra Leone’s cybersecurity capacity. It also positions the country as a regional leader in fostering digital resilience, aligning with the broader goals of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to combat cybercrime and enhance digital trust across member states.

This initiative sets a new benchmark for cybersecurity collaboration in West Africa, promising a more secure digital future for Sierra Leone and the region.
