Arrested with 481 Rounds by Nasarawa Police Team. By Raymond Enoch:

In a decisive security breakthrough, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have apprehended a 21-year-old woman allegedly trafficking ammunition across local government areas in the state.

The suspect, identified as Fatima Salisu from Funtua, Katsina State, was intercepted in the Azuba area of Lafia while reportedly transporting a large cache of ammunition. Acting on actionable intelligence, the police swiftly launched a coordinated operation under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed.

Officers from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit executed the operation with precision, leading to the recovery of 481 rounds of live ammunition, including 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.

Authorities believe Salisu was en route to deliver the ammunition to criminal networks operating in Katsina, moving through Keana and Doma Local Government Areas before her arrest.

Police say the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing thorough interrogation, with investigations ongoing to uncover the wider arms trafficking network potentially linked to banditry and terrorism.

“This arrest is a major step in our ongoing campaign against illegal arms proliferation and organized crime,” said SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer. “We urge members of the public to support law enforcement with credible information to ensure a safer Nasarawa State.”

The police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling insecurity and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.
