In a move signaling a new chapter of strategic inter-agency synergy, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has pledged unwavering support for the Federal Fire Service. This assurance came on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Assistant Controller General of Federal Fire, Zonal Command Wuse Zone 3 Abuja, ACGF Mohammed B. Tajudeen.

The high-level meeting, which brought together the Zone 7 Police Management Team and senior officers of the Federal Fire Service, was held at the Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja. At the heart of discussions was a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation in areas critical to public safety—especially fire emergency responses, intelligence sharing, and crowd control during fire incidents.

In his remarks, ACGF Tajudeen acknowledged the indispensable role of the Nigeria Police Force in emergency response and protecting lives and property. He lauded the leadership of Zone 7 for creating an enabling environment for partnership and emphasized the Federal Fire Service’s readiness to collaborate more closely with the police.

“Our work is most effective when supported by robust security architecture,” Tajudeen stated. “We are confident that our combined strengths can significantly reduce losses from fire-related emergencies and criminal sabotage.”

Responding to the Fire Chief, AIG Olaiya highlighted the importance of synergy between the police and emergency response units. He stressed that a unified front would not only enhance operational efficiency but also reinforce public trust in the capabilities of both services.

“The challenges of today demand that we do not work in silos,” Olaiya said. “Whether it’s intelligence sharing, joint training, or coordinated field operations, the Nigeria Police is fully committed to this partnership.”

The AIG also emphasized the need for proactive strategies, particularly in the face of rising urban fire incidents and potential threats involving arson and sabotage. “We must anticipate, prepare, and respond together,” he added.

The meeting concluded with both agencies pledging continued collaboration and expressing optimism about the future of their partnership. Their renewed alliance is expected to usher in a more responsive, coordinated, and citizen-focused emergency management approach within the Zone 7 region and beyond.

As security and safety agencies move to close operational gaps, this landmark visit serves as a beacon of the unified commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
