The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has lauded the efforts of the Niger State Police Command for its dedication to maintaining peace and security across the state.

Speaking during a familiarization visit to the Command, AIG Olaiya expressed satisfaction with the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in Niger State, attributing it to the professionalism and hard work of the officers and men on the ground. He commended the Commissioner of Police and his team for their commitment to duty, and also acknowledged the continued support of the Niger State Government in boosting the operational capacity of the Police Force.

Addressing officers during the visit, the AIG underscored the importance of enforcing laws governing the use of tinted vehicle permits. He stressed that while such enforcement is crucial, it must be carried out without resorting to extortion or harassment of citizens. Olaiya also urged personnel to always prioritize their personal safety, noting that an officer must be alive and in good health to effectively carry out their duties of protecting lives and property.

The AIG conveyed the assurances of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, of the Force’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of its officers nationwide. He noted that ongoing reforms are designed to provide better support and motivation for police personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.

Reiterating that discipline remains the foundation of effective policing, AIG Olaiya called on officers to maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He urged all personnel to work collectively in combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens in line with the directives of the IGP.

He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Zone 7 Headquarters to supporting commands within its jurisdiction in achieving the core mandate of the Nigeria Police Force — the protection of lives and property.
