Nigeria Hails Rwanda’s Independence, Stress African Solidarity Bond of Unity, and Pan- Africanism.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm congratulations to the Republic of Rwanda on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, describing the East African nation’s journey as a symbol of resilience, transformation, and visionary leadership on the African continent.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson of the Ministry, Nigeria lauded Rwanda’s achievements under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, commending its socio-economic progress, commitment to peace, and active role in regional and global affairs.
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed Nigeria’s felicitations to his Rwandan counterpart, His Excellency Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda. Ambassador Tuggar noted that Rwanda’s Independence Anniversary is not only a celebration of national sovereignty, but also a reaffirmation of its remarkable post-independence evolution into a stable, progressive, and innovation-driven society.
“As fellow members of the African Union and the Commonwealth of Nations, Nigeria values the strong bilateral relations with Rwanda and remains committed to deepening cooperation in key areas of mutual interest, including trade, technology, and sustainable development,” the statement read.
Nigeria emphasized its continued solidarity with the government and people of Rwanda, expressing confidence in the growing partnership between both nations. The press release highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to regional peace, pan-African cooperation, and socio-economic empowerment.
As Rwanda celebrates this historic milestone, Nigeria reaffirmed its aspiration to work closely with Kigali in fostering inclusive development and advancing the African agenda on the global stage.
“May Rwanda’s flag continue to fly high, and may the spirit of Umuganda — collective progress — guide the nation’s path toward an even brighter future,” the statement concluded.
