ECOWAS President Dr. Omar Alieu Touray Celebrates Togo’s 65th Independence Anniversary with Warm Felicitations By Raymond Enoch

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of the Republic of Togo as the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement Dr. Touray praised Togo’s enduring commitment to regional integration, peace, and development, describing the nation as a “pillar of unity and resilience within the ECOWAS community.”

“As Togo commemorates 65 years of independence, the ECOWAS Commission salutes its achievements and looks forward to continued collaboration in advancing the shared vision of a peaceful and prosperous West Africa,” Dr. Touray stated.

He further highlighted the significant contributions of Togo to the promotion of democracy and economic progress in the sub-region, reaffirming ECOWAS’ unwavering support for the country’s future aspirations.

Togo gained independence from French colonial rule on April 27, 1960, and has since been an active and influential member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Dr. Touray concluded his message by wishing the people of Togo peace, prosperity, and unity as they celebrate this national milestone.
