Grace Ike, NUJ FCT Chair, Honored with African Leadership Excellence Award.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Comrade Grace Ike, has been awarded the prestigious African Leadership Excellence Award at the third edition of the African Legendary Award (AFRILA 2025) held in Abuja.

Ike was celebrated for her exceptional leadership, humanitarian efforts, and remarkable influence in the broadcasting industry. A key figure in the media community, Ike’s contributions as a broadcast journalist were underscored during the event, which gathered notable personalities from across Africa.

The award was accepted on her behalf by Ebriku John Friday, editor of the NUJ FCT online news platform. Friday, who praised Ike’s leadership, highlighting her commitment to the welfare of journalists, inclusivity, and her transformational role in the FCT chapter. He also noted that Ike made history as the first female chairperson in the NUJ FCT Council’s 41-year legacy.

Ike expressed deep gratitude to the award organizers, dedicating the honor to God and to the members of the NUJ FCT Council. She acknowledged their steadfast support throughout her election and tenure. Ike also used the occasion to encourage journalists to continue upholding the highest ethical standards in their reporting and to remain committed to fair and balanced journalism.

With over 17 years of experience in broadcast journalism, Grace Ike currently works with the Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN) in Abuja. Her dedication to the profession and her leadership in the NUJ continue to inspire many in the media industry.
