In a unanimous decision, the Prime Minister State of African Diaspora (SOAD) Dr. Louis-Georges Tin and the two Vice Ministers
Keturah Amoako and Hugh Johnson have announced Christine Young-Lashkari, Resident Ambassador to Cameroon, as Ambassador of the Year 2024.

This outstanding and prestigious recognition celebrates her outstanding contributions to the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) and its mission in Cameroon and beyond.

A Visionary Leader Driving Change
Since her appointment in November 2022, Ambassador Young-Lashkari has been at the forefront of SOAD’s efforts in Cameroon, securing its presence and strengthening diplomatic ties. She has successfully cultivated strategic relationships with key government ministries, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of External Relations, and the Prime Minister’s Office.

One of her most significant achievements has been securing land for the development of a Medical City and Smart City, a groundbreaking initiative poised to revolutionize healthcare and infrastructure in the region. Through her unwavering dedication, she has positioned SOAD as a leading force in Africa’s sustainable development agenda.

Influencing the Future of African Cities
Beyond Cameroon, Ambassador Young-Lashkari’s influence has resonated across Africa. In July 2024, she was invited to Lagos, Nigeria, to speak at the Future Cities Africa Summit—an event focused on carbon neutrality, circular economy, and inclusive urban development. Her presentation on SOAD’s commitment to clean energy solutions and sustainability reinforced the organization’s leadership in shaping Africa’s urban transformation.

A Testimony to Excellence and Dedication
Vice Prime Minister Keturah Amoako lauded Ambassador Young-Lashkari’s passion, professionalism, and perseverance, emphasizing her role as a driving force behind SOAD’s national development projects in Cameroon.

“She consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, making her a truly deserving nominee for Ambassador of the Year 2024. We are honored to have her spearheading sustainable growth and fostering international partnerships that will drive long-term progress in Cameroon.”

Ambassador Young-Lashkari, overwhelmed by the honor, expressed her gratitude:

“I am truly humbled and overjoyed to receive this award. It is an absolute honor to represent SOAD in Cameroon and to contribute to meaningful development initiatives. I remain committed to strengthening relationships and creating lasting positive change for the Republic of Cameroon.”

A Legacy in the Making
Ambassador Young-Lashkari’s leadership continues to embody SOAD’s vision of empowering African nations through strategic partnerships and sustainable projects. Her great ancestor, Thomas Peters—a founding father of Sierra Leone—would be proud of her relentless pursuit of progress.

With her at the helm, SOAD’s impact in Cameroon and across Africa is set to reach new heights, fostering a future of innovation, resilience, and inclusive growth.
