TSBS Acting GM Hails the Emergence of Taraba Media Publishers Forum ,Pledges Support for Professionalism

The Acting General Manager of the Taraba State Broadcasting Services (TSBS) Comrade David Nyah has hailed the emergence of the Taraba State Independent Media Publishes Association, saying the move will support the promotion of professionalism in the media practice in the state.
Comrade Nyah who stated this while playing host to members of the Taraba State Independent Media Publishers Forum who paid him a solidarity visit in his office last week urged the members of the association to remain objective in their reporrtage, stating that as owners of news medium their sources of news should be factual.
He appealed to them to also promote and project policies of government in the state for the benefit of the masses of the state.
“This current administration has done a lot of work, although you all own your medium, but I will appeal to you all to help promote and Project the various policies of government too, in our duty to provide developmental journalism, so that the masses can be aware and benefit from them” he said
He decried the era of decrease in reading culture and sensational face book publication charged members to remain professional despite this huge challenges and temptation to break the news without facts as has become the trend on social media today adding that the ethics of the media profession stands for factual reportage.
He pledged to support the forum in any way it needs help to enable it succeed in its task to promote credible and responsible journalism in Taraba State.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Taraba State Independent Publishers Forum Mr. Joseph Igbar who congratulated the Acting General Manager on his well deserved appointment thanked Governor Darius for the choice of the new General Manager, emphasizing that to the Media practitioners, the appointment was a reward of excellence and recognition of hard work and professionalism by this administration.
He explained that the decision to come together as professionals under a common identity was borne out of the desire and commitment to promote credibility and professionalism of Media practice in the state and body of journalism profession at large.
The Chairman stressed the need for collaboration among relevant stakeholders particularly the Government, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and others to promote responsible journalism and ethical practices in the media industry.
