In a bold stride towards youth empowerment and national development, the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Government of Nigeria, have officially launched the second phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP 2.0).

The landmark event took place at the Office of the Vice President, where the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, led a high-level EU–UNDP delegation to inaugurate the NJFP 2.0 Project Steering Committee alongside Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima.

Coordinated by the Office of the Vice President, funded by the EU, and implemented by UNDP, NJFP 2.0 marks a renewed commitment to unlocking the potential of Nigeria’s young graduates. The programme offers thousands of fellows the opportunity to gain real-world work experience, sharpen their skills, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the national economy.
“This next phase reinforces our shared vision,” said Ambassador Mignot. “We are investing in a generation that will turn knowledge into impact, ambition into enterprise, and potential into national progress.”

Launched initially in 2021, the NJFP has already placed over 3,000 fellows in both public and private sector institutions across Nigeria. With NJFP 2.0, the programme aims to expand its reach, scale impact, and build a pipeline of future-ready leaders and innovators.
Vice President Shettima hailed the initiative as “a catalyst for inclusive growth,” emphasizing the government’s unwavering support for initiatives that prioritize youth inclusion and employment.
As Nigeria battles youth unemployment and underemployment, NJFP 2.0 signals a powerful alliance between international partners and the Nigerian government to build bridges between education and employment — one fellow at a time.
